Recommended bluetooth dongle

I finally found a compatible, low price, worldwide available bluetooth dongle. The brand name is “Pluscom”, it’s quite unknown, and the model name is “BT-20″. The chip inside this dongle is a CSR Bluecore4-rom, and what’s even more surprising is that it’s written “CSR BC4″ on the product package.

This dongle is available on ebay: link. The price is good and the seller is in the UK, which should provide a faster delivery than China to people living in the EU or the US. No longer available :(

The shape of this dongle is exactly the same than my Peabird PEAB-BT-SM04C-100M (CSR Bluecore4-rom). It’s not a very common shape for bluetooth dongles, so that I think it’s highly possible that these dongles come from the same factory.

I want to use a script (bash, Perl, Python, or anything) to send keyboard keypress events to the Sixemugui. I have tried xdotool and the Python module virtkey, but Sixemugui ignores my simulated keyevents. I am using Ubuntu, and the Sixemugui works fine with physical button presses. Do you know how I can programmatically create keyevents that Sixemugui will respond to?

Did you tried the macro tool?

I think xdotool generates events for the keyboard named "Virtual core XTEST keyboard". You have to configure mapping for events from this virtual device.

Yes, I tried the macro tool, but my understanding is that I still have to press a physical key to start the macro, so that wasn't what I was looking for.

However, your suggestion to configure mapping from the virtual device worked perfectly. Thank you for your quick response! :)

Hi. This GIMX is wery interesting! But as I’m trying to find a suitable bluetooth dongle, I opened the ebay link in this post. Is 142$ (USD) really a good price for a USB bluetooth dongle?? :-P
